One of the main indicators of the formation of a basic system of mathematical knowledge and skills in the category, “Arithmetic operations”, is the ability to subtract numbers and identify the properties of their actions within 10. A child must not only know the numbers from 0 to 9, but also be able to determine and write them. Moreover, he/she must know the direct count from 1 to 10 and count confidently up to 10 in forward and reverse order, perform operations of subtracting single-digit numbers within 10 in increments of -0, -1, -2.
The test results determined that this indicator, unfortunately, is not sufficiently formed and its value is below 85%. It shows the presence of basic skills to perform the subtraction of single-digit numbers within 10 with a step of -0, -1, -2, however, they are not brought to automatism.
